The Singapore GDC is dedicated to shipping finished goods to its worldwide customer base, acts as a global customer sample centre, stores die and wa fers for shipment to assembly and test operations, and serves as a local hub for consolidation and delivery of products to customers in South Asia. More than half of the 38 billion devices ON Semiconductor produce and ships annually are expected to pass through the company’s Singapore GDC.
The moving to the new bigger facility in the 2011 with a surface of 9000m2 (the double of the previous one), and consequently an increasing to about 20 billion of components to be managed, faced the need to increase also the number of Automated Storage Solutions (In fact on Semi was previously using the Vertical Carousels). The more efficiency in terms of performance and capacity convinced them to choose Modula VLM instead of VC concept to store all the silicon wafers and IC chips as all the most expensive materials they manage.
The logistics of all the inputoutput material managed by the ON semiconductor Singapore GDC is managed by DHL as 3rd party logistic company. They actually have 3 Modula LIFT (2 ML25D and 1 MX25D) used to store the silicon wafer received from the production sites which might be delivered then to the final customers all around the world. The 3 Modula are temperature controlled, in order to grant always the same temperature necessary for the storage of this material. All the 3 Modula’s are ready to be connected with the Modula WMS software to the ERP used by DHL, with the Barcode Reader used for the confirmation of the picking and retrieval orders.
