Modula Link is the WMS system that allows an external host system to control a group of Lift OS machines at a low level using a set of commands managed through a TCP/IP socket channel.
Modula Link is the communication server: it opens a TCP port (configurable) and waits to receive commands; when it receives a valid command from the external host system, it manages it and provides a response.
Modula Link can be parameterized to manage commands from a single client (mono-client communication) or multiple clients (multi-client communication).
When the ERP has to move a tray, it uses the appropriate command. As soon as the tray is ready in the bay, the Modula WMS system informs the ERP, which then proceeds with its own workflow. At the end of the operation the ERP may send a command to return the tray to its stand-by position.
The Modula storage system only receives a request to call the tray, the console shows the tray ready, but does not communicate anything else to the operator: it is the ERP system that must show the activities to be executed and ask for confirmation when the task is complete.
Typically, the picking tool used is an RF scanner, more rarely an external PC. The accurate and real-time control of the storage system enables the implementation of a series of advanced logistic functions by the ERP.
