The Company
Dinissan, part of Grupo Vardí, is a leading Colombian company operating in the automotive sector. The company stands out for providing excellent mobility experiences to its customers throughout the country. With two strategically located distribution centers — one in Barranquilla and one in Bogotá — the group ensures comprehensive nationwide coverage, leveraging the main import ports on both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to guarantee immediate availability of spare parts and services.
The Challenge
As the business grew and its portfolio of brands and activities expanded, Dinissan (part of Grupo Vardí) faced a crucial challenge:
- Minimize spare parts order fulfillment times to avoid vehicle downtime
- Optimize warehouse space
- Ensure immediate availability for an ever-growing number of SKUs
The goal was to process every order in under 25 minutes, from start to finish. To achieve this standard, the company needed to modernize its internal logistics and make picking and shipping flows much faster and more efficient.
The Solution
To meet these needs, Dinissan (part of Grupo Vardí) launched a strategic project that involved:
- Redesigning internal processes
- Investing in advanced technology
- Collaborating with qualified suppliers
The real breakthrough came with the implementation of Modula, the vertical storage system that became the “cherry on top” of the entire project.
With the support of Vigatec, the company was able to select, define, size, and implement two Modula Lift ML50D units, each 11,700 mm high, creating a highly efficient logistics system.
The two installed machines occupy only 36 m² in total but offer:
- 99 trays per machine
- 1,294 SKUs stored in each Modula
- Immediate product access thanks to automatic retrieval and integration with conveyor belts and barcode scanners
The Results
The adoption of Modula led to tangible, measurable results:
- Space optimization: Storage capacity equivalent to 970 m² of traditional shelving is now concentrated in just 36 m².
- Reduced operating costs: The need to invest in additional shelving, forklifts, and a large workforce was eliminated — operations are now managed by just 1–2 people.
- Increased productivity: Picking flows are fast and accurate thanks to the integration with the transport system and automatic barcode scanning.
- Reduced fulfillment times: 25 minutes per order — target achieved!
The Future
Grupo Vardí and Dinissan look to the future with the awareness that they have made a long-term strategic investment. Modula technology has proven to be a central pillar of their logistics management, paving the way for future expansions, digital integrations, and further optimization of operational flows.
With a solid and technologically advanced foundation, the company is ready to continue its growth, offering an even faster, more reliable, and customer-oriented service.
