The Company
Speedflow Products Pty Ltd is an Australian company specializing in the production and distribution of components for the automotive aftermarket, motorsport, and high-performance applications. Based in Australia, Speedflow Products Pty Ltd is internationally recognized for the quality of its products and its ability to innovate in the world of motorsport and high-performance engineering.
The Challenge
With a continuously expanding product range, Speedflow Products Pty Ltd faced a structural limitation in its warehouse:
- The available space was not sufficient to efficiently manage inventory.
- Traditional shelving systems took up too much floor space without utilizing vertical height.
- It was necessary to improve inventory management, reduce picking times, and ensure greater safety and accuracy.
The priority was therefore to find a solution that would optimize storage capacity without physically expanding the warehouse, while at the same time increasing operational efficiency.
The Solution
To meet these needs, Speedflow Products Pty Ltd decided to implement two Modula Lift ML50D units, each 4,500 mm high and equipped with a double internal bay for ergonomic access to materials.
Key features of the solution:
- Space optimization: By taking advantage of the warehouse height, the Modula Lifts drastically reduce the footprint compared to traditional shelving.
- Operational efficiency: Operators pick components directly from the ergonomic access bay, reducing time and effort.
- Advanced inventory management: trays can be configured for items of various sizes, and the integration of the WMS with the company’s ERP system allows real-time stock control.
- Safety and protection: Materials are stored securely and can only be accessed through the operator interface.
The Results
The two Modula Lift units have delivered tangible, measurable benefits:
- Up to 90% reduction in floor space used for storage. Each unit occupies just 14.3 m², for a total of 28.6 m².
- Increased storage capacity: Together, the two systems provide 182.52 m² of usable surface area and 35.6 m³ of volume.
- Space efficiency ratio: While traditional shelving has a 1:1 ratio, with Modula Lift 1 m² of floor space corresponds to over 6 m² of storage.
- Higher productivity: The freed-up space can be used for higher value-added activities such as assembly, packaging, or new production lines.
- Accuracy and safety: Reduced picking errors and improved material protection; enhanced operator safety and ergonomics.
The Future
Following the success of this project, Speedflow Products Pty Ltd plans to purchase additional Modula Vertical Lift Modules to support its growth. Space optimization and increased efficiency open up new development opportunities, making the company even more competitive in the high-performance automotive and motorsport sectors.
