Outset Media – a distribution centre located in Brampton, Ontario – is a supplier, manufacturer and distributor of puzzles and board games in Canada and the US. With the rapid increase in demand for its products in recent years, Outset Media has found itself at a critical juncture. Their facility was overwhelmed, and they needed to decide whether to downsize, buy more warehouse space or find an alternative solution to storage on pallet racks.
Integration of automated warehouses with ERP systems: benefits and results
With the installation of four Modula ML50Ds, Outset Media managed to save 4,000 m2 of space by storing its inventory inside the Modula systems. Thanks to the software’s intuitive design and ease of use, a picker can now fulfil orders at three times the speed they used to be able to. The warehouse can now keep up with demand for orders from its growing business without having to purchase additional property at the Brampton site.
It was easy to integrate warehouse management software (WMS) into the inventory system to keep track of B2C orders. It also provides a visual display of the arrangement of trays, with the position and quantity of the products. The LED bar quickly shows the picker which product to choose for shipping. Dual internal delivery bays increase the speed and efficiency of continuous picking.
