The ESD protection system is designed to prevent electrostatic charges from coming into contact with operators. The point is to avoid shocks in case of dangerous products, with the aim of transferring all the electrostatic charge of different bodies at different intensities.
Direct contact or an electrostatic field can involve a transmission of electrostatic energy, for example when the human body comes into contact with an object charged at a different potential a discharge is generated between the two bodies, the so-called shock often accompanied by a sparkle but sometimes even invisible.
Since discharges can be very dangerous, especially in the case of exchanges with gases, fuels, explosives, but also and above all in electronic components, we decided to equip the Modula automatic warehouse with ESD protection.
ESD protection consists of:
Bracelets and mat connect to the ground point which is a device with a total resistance of 1 MΩ. To make the system work, it is necessary to install some special contacts on the tray, mounted next to the bay.
The outgoing tray, before reaching the operator, touches the contacts connected to the grounding point of the system so as to annihilate the discharge.
