Metro Los Angeles

Modula automated warehouses for the automotive sector

Los Angeles Metro, or rather the L.A. County Transportation Authority, is responsible for the planning, design, construction, and operation of the Los Angeles County transportation system. With over 93 stations and 105 miles of service, Los Angeles is one of the largest and most highly populated counties in the United States.

L.A. Metro was constantly expanding to support the operational needs of its rail system. With a keen eye on the future, they were looking for an automated storage solution that could ensure the right amount of parts were in the right place, and that could handle that kind of expansion. The funding requirements stipulated that the solution had to be manufactured in the United States.

How Los Angeles Metro Optimised its Warehouse Safety and Efficiency with VLMs

Thanks to the installation of an MX50 unit, over 50 m² of parts inventory are now stored in just 9 m². Accuracy and picking speed have increased dramatically, allowing sales and service orders to be handled more quickly. The right spare parts are always available in the right place at the right time, thus reducing the movement of goods and the potential costs of damage suffered during transport. The included features, such as the safety light barriers that stop the movement if breached, improve worker safety.
