February 16 marks Energy Saving Day, an important opportunity to reflect on how companies and individuals can make a concrete contribution to the energy transition. At Modula, this reflection has already been part of everyday reality for years.
From Above: Roofs That Generate Clean Energy
Today, 75% of the roof surface of our Italian facilities is covered by photovoltaic systems—a figure that brings us tangibly closer to our goal of increasing internally produced renewable energy to cover 25% of our total energy needs.
During 2024, we completed and commissioned the photovoltaic system at our Salvaterra di Casalgrande site, which immediately delivered positive results in terms of self-produced renewable energy. At the same time, we launched a feasibility study to expand photovoltaic capacity at our newest site in Fiorano Modenese, with the aim of further increasing energy independence and reducing the use of fossil fuels.
This path strengthens the energy autonomy of our sites and contributes significantly to reducing emissions associated with electricity generated by third-party providers, demonstrating that industrial competitiveness and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
From Below: Energy That Moves and Recharges
Moving from rooftops to parking areas, sustainability continues to take shape. Between Fiorano Modenese and Salvaterra, we have installed eight electric vehicle charging stations, supporting increasingly efficient, low-emission mobility.
This direction is also reflected in the new company car policy, which gives employees assigned company vehicles the option to choose from a broader range of new plug-in hybrid and fully electric models. This encourages a culture of sustainable mobility that directly involves people and their everyday lives.
Energy Efficiency: Improving by Starting from Data
Alongside energy production from renewable sources, we have launched a detailed analysis of the energy consumption of individual machines and systems. The goal is to identify areas for improvement and define targeted efficiency measures, reducing waste and optimizing the energy performance of the entire production system.
